Wimshurst machine is an electrostatic generator using electrostatic induction to multiply the electric charge continuously. Wimshurst machine can produce ±120 kilovolt static electricity.

Static electricity is produced by two disc which are rotating in contrary direction, each disc has metal sectors. Two quadrants have different electric charges and two other quadrants have identical electric charges.

A pair of Leyden jars, each has ±70pF or a total of ±140pF capacity are used to store the produced static electric charge.

This tools is operated by hand, no power needed. Transparent materials are used to expose the tools mechanism. Crank and disc shafts are equipped with ball bearings that make it rotates smoothly.
