 Why we need Computer Based Experiment or Data Logger?

1. We live in digital world, digital are every way in our live. Young people are familiar with PC, PlayStation, Handphone, DVD Player, etc. They are all digital. Why not we use it on the Science Teaching and Experiment?
2. We can measure the physical quantity in a very short time (ms) up to long time period (hours, days), which are can not do it (too fast or too slow/boring) with conventional apparatus.
3. The result can be automatically recorded, and directly display on screen or also can be used for further analysis.
4. Time saving for experiment, so we repeat the experiment to get more data result.
5. With computer based experiment, science become "friendly" and more "fun".

Why Used CMA? 

1. Developed by CMA and Science and Technology Education Resources of AMSTEL Institute of Universiteit van Amsterdam.
2. "Open" system. The sensors could be from CMA, or others such as Vernier, TI, etc. Teacher/Senior student can create their own activity. We can also add our "own sensor" to the system.
3. Supported by Intuitive and User friendly software (Coach6) that can be used for:
  • Measurement, with several kind of sensors to get the physical quantity in science experiment.
  • Control, to teach the control system with simple "program" used to manipulate the input and control the output (CoachLabII+).
  • Video Experiment. We can do the experiment with the captured video. Student can use their own captured video with web-cam to do the experiment.
  • Modeling. We use modeling to abstract the Physical Experiment to the model. We can create the model with simple abstraction and equation. We can change the model parameter to see how it effect the result.Nowadays, modern scientist also do the experiment and analysis with using computer and modeling on their lab for complex system/plant.
  • User can directly compare the output of his/her model with the actual experiment result. This feature is useful to refine his/her model and parameter.

4. The experiment data result can be display as numeric value, graphic, diagram, table, etc, for ease data representation.
5. Supported with powerful tools, such as, graph tool, fit function, area, FFT, etc, for further analysis of the experiment result.
6. Various sensors can be attached to the interface to measure time, light, temperature, force, acceleration, motion, pressure, voltage, pH, conductivity, heart-beat, ECG, colorimeter, magnetic field, O2, CO2, Flow rate, etc.
7. Simple Interface set up with USB connection to PC. The sensors connected to interface by using simple BT connector. Auto sensor detection (for intelligent sensors) simplify the experiment setup.
8. CMA product can be combined together with the existing laboratory apparatus in school.
