On August 30, 2014, Pudak Scientific held training called “A Day Closer to Microscope” for teachers and laboratory assistants. In this training, participants were invited to explore microscope regarding the maintenance, storage, and simple repairment.

The main speaker for this event was Mr. Kusnadi, M.Si., a microbiology lecturer of FPMIPA UPI. He emphasized on the importance of microscope in learning process, not only in biology, but science in general. Therefore, it is necessary to have good maintenance of microscopes in school. Additionally, he also conveyed about microscope role in the 2013 Curriculum.

In this training, participants were invited to conduct practices using microscope, such as:

• Observing bacteria using simple coloring and negative coloring methods
• Observing stomata on leaves
• Life on a drop of water
• Making of blood cell preparation using giemsa stain
• Introduction of various microscopes

In addition to those practices, participants were also trained to do some simple repairment of microscope available in their school. Hopefully those microscopes will be well maintained and can be used optimally.


Our next training will be the Basic Level of Laboratory Management, which will be held on September 6, 2014. The speaker will be Ms. Dr. Yunita, M.Pd. (complete schedule).
