On September 20, 2014, Pudak Scientific held a training activity on biology. It was about Circulatory System Physiology. This training discussed the learning process and how to teach the circulatory system physiology.
The training was attended by junior high school and high school teachers from Jakarta and West Java. They were very enthusiastic in doing the training activities because various interesting practices were performed in this training.
The first session was begun with seminar that conveyed the theory of circulatory physiology and the usage and maintenance of circulatory physiology equipment. The practices conducted in this session were:
- Blood test
- Making of blood cells preparation
- Blood clotting
- Blood cells concentration
After break, the activity was continued with factory visit. By this visit, it is hoped that the participants will know how educational aids they usually used in school are made.
The second session was practices that were performed in parallel, that include:
- Counting the blood cells using haemocytometer neubauer
- Measurement of hemoglobin level using the Sahli’s haemometer and Tallquist paper
- Measurement of blood pressure
- Measurement of EKG
- Observation of fish vascular
A discussion between the participants and the speaker was held at the end of the second session. The topic was about the problem in learning process of circulatory physiology in school, particularly about the lab work. It was concluded that lab work is very important in circulatory physiology material.
One of the participant said: "By attending this training, I know some interesting practices for the students, one of them is the observation of vascular on fish's tail. In my opinion, the practicum is very interesting and help making something abstract become real for the students".
