Mastering the basic of laboratory management is a must for science teachers and laboratory assistants, especially for those who served as the head of a laboratory. After this laboratory management training, it is expected that they can optimize the use of school laboratory as well maintaining it.

Pudak Scientific as the largest producer of educational aids in Indonesia would like to take part in helping teachers and laboratory assistants to optimize the school laboratories by holding the Basic Level Laboratory Management Trainings.

This training was held on September 6, 2014. The participants were 43 teachers and laboratory assistants from West Java, Jakarta, East Java, Banten, Riau, Yogyakarta, Makassar, and West Papua. The speaker for this training was Dr. Yunita, M.Pd. - a lecturer of Department of Chemistry Education of UIN Sunan Gunung Djati Bandung.

The first session was about theory of laboratory management in school, which emphasized on the importance of laboratory management, particularly for the implementation of safe and convenient student's practice activities.

On the second session, participant had practices which conducted in parallel in two rooms, the Biology and Chemistry Room and the Physics Room. The practices included:

• Measurements by using the vernier caliper, micrometer screw, stopwatch, basic meter, and multimeter.
• Ohm's law
• Transformer
• Observation on stomata on leaves
• Observation on life on a drop of water
• Insect's respiration
• Making of solution

Participants were invited to perform practices using hands on experience method. It is expected that these practice activities can be used as references in conducting practices in school laboratory. Participants were very enthusiastic in performing the practices. Hopefully teachers and laboratory assistants may be able optimize the use of school laboratory in the same spirit.


Our next training will be about science technology under the theme of Computer Based Experiment System Application in Science Learning Process. This training will be held on September 13, 2014 with Drs. Janto V Sulungbudi as the speaker. (complete schedule)
