Chemistry Games (Joyful learning) is the name for a chemical learning process, which in this process students are directed to develop their creativity so learning can become effective and fun. Included in this process, among others, is a demonstration of chemical experiments that can attract the student attention.
Other reasons to do Chemistry Games are safety reason, limited equipment & chemical supplies and limited time.
As with the concept of the Chemistry Games, Pudak Scientific recently has held a workshop on "Chemistry Games (Joyful Learning)" for Chemistry Teachers. The event was held on Saturday, May 18, 2013. Presenters at this training was Dr. Yunita, M.Pd. (Author of Chemistry Games Volume 1 and 2).
Participants of the training were Chemistry Teachers who have high enthusiasm for the development of chemical demonstrations. They came from schools in the provinces of WEST JAVA, CENTRAL JAVA, DKI JAKARTA, BANTEN, SOUTH SUMATRA. The participants were divided into 8 groups, each assigned to do the chemistry game presentations and discussions between groups.
Chemistry games that were performed include:
- Observing candle
- Chemistry poster
- Sexy eggs
- My money burnt,my money intact
- Magic egg
- whiskey being water
- The action of sodium
- Temperature cooling
- Secret colors of nature
- Happy soda (Indonesian drink)
- Smoldering fires
- Black obelisk
- Burst of chemicals
- Lighting a fire inside water
- Soda drinks
- Fire extinguisher
Learning by the concept of Chemical Games like this, according to the participants, is very different from conventional learning, because it triggers interest and curiosity towards chemistry. At the same time the teacher can provide explanations and introduces important concepts in chemistry to the students more easily because of the fun element in learning. |
