In accordance with Pudak Scientific’s commitment to actively involved in improving the education quality in Indonesia, we held the Laboratory Management Workshop in Batam, Kepulauan Riau Province. This workshop was held under the cooperation with PT Sempurna, Pudak Scientific’s representative for Batam and the surrounding area.

The workshop held on Saturday, August 22, 2015 at SMA Kartini Batam was attended by 36 participants from various junior high schools and senior high schools of Batam. Some participants conveyed that they were very interested in attending this event because this kind of workshop was rarely held in Batam.

The workshop started by a presentation of laboratory management by M. Ikhsan Pahlawan, S.Pd. from the Technical Support team of Pudak Scientific. He was explaining about the basic knowledge of laboratory and encouraged participants to manage their laboratory properly. Next, participants were invited to do chemistry, physics, and biology experiments. The physics experiments lead by Mr. Setyo Budi Mulyono, S.Si., the Pudak Scientific’s Technical Support team of physics.

The experiments included:

• Solution making
• Basic measurement by using  vernier calipers, screw micrometer, basic meter, and multimeter
• Transformers series
• Introduction of power supply
• Leaf’s stomata observation
• Bacteria observation in yoghurt
• Insect’s respiration

This event ended by group photo session for documentation of Laboratory Management Workshop. Most participants were satisfied with this workshop because this workshop satisfied their curiosity about laboratory management knowledge. Thus we are very motivated to continue our effort to improve the education quality in Indonesia through various workshops we held all over Indonesia.

We will return to Batam to held the Science and Mathematics Educational Aids Medium Development Workshop on August 29, 2015.
