Microscope Usage, Care, And Maintenance Training, February 21, 2015
 
 
Microscope is a tool commonly found in school laboratory. Microscope is very useful in learning process, particularly in biology, and also useful for other subject. However, many microscopes in schools are broken. These microscopes are broken because of improper usage, maintenance, and storage by users, thus it cannot be used optimally. 

Pudak Scientific, as the pioneer of educational aids producers in Indonesia committed to always involved in improving the national education, held the Microscope Usage, Care, and Maintenance Training for teachers and laboratory assistants of junior high school and high school on February 21, 2015.

The purpose of this training was to improve teachers and laboratory assistants’ competence in proper microscope care and maintenance. Therefore, microscope in their school can be use optimally and reduce the broken microscope in schools. The training started at 08.00 a.m., with registration process and morning tea session. The first material for this training was started at 09.00 a.m. and continued by the experiment session until 12.00 a.m. Some of the experiments conducted were:
  • Stomata observation
  • Life in a drop of water
  • Simple coloring of yoghurt bacteria
  • Negative coloring
  • Yeast cell observation
  • Plant anatomy observation
  • Observation of bacteria in root nodule.
After lunch break, participants were invited to visit Pudak Scientific’s Factory. In this factory visit, participants saw the production processes of educational aids produced by Pudak Scientific. 

After factory visit, participants that came from West Java, DKI Jakarta, South Sumatera, and West Sumatera, learned how to disassemble, repair, and reassemble the microscope. Participants were very enthusiastic in following this session because most participants did not know simple repairment methods for microscopes, as well as the disassembling and reassembling methods.

The training was ended with evaluation session and independent task. By doing this task, participants were expected to be able to practice microscopes maintenance methods in their school.
