On August 8, 2015, Pudak Scientific held a one day microscope workshop. Microscope is a common science experiment tool used in schools. However, most microscopes in schools were not used optimally, most of them even broken or neglected.  The reason for this condition should be the lack knowledge of the proper microscope usage. Therefore, Pudak Scientific organized a workshop that particularly about microscopes. 

The main speaker for this workshop was Mr. Amprast, M.Si., a lecturer of Biology Education Department of Universitas Pendidikan Indonesia. In his presentation he emphasized about the importance of microscope maintenance, because a proper maintenance will optimize the microscope function in school’s learning processes.

This workshop that covered the proper usage, maintenance, and basic repair of microscope attended by 18 participants from various regions of Indonesia, including from Lombok, Nusa Tenggara Barat Province.

Participants did several experiments regarding the microscopes usage, which include:

• Bacteria Observation by Simple Coloring
• Bacteria Observation by Negative Coloring
• Observation of Life in a Drop of Water
• Observation of Saccharomyces cereviceae yeast
• Stomata Observation

After the experiment session, participant learned every detail of microscope and microscope simple repairment by disassembling and reassembling it. Participants did their experiments in an inquiry method to find and solve problems regarding microscope. Participants were very enthusiastic in doing this session.

Workshop ended by the evaluation session and closing event. One participant conveyed that this workshop was very useful because his school had many neglected microscope, and by attending this workshop he wished to be able to self-repair those microscopes.
