Microscope is one of the most important equipments for an observation in Biology, so it often perceived as the icon of biological study. However, according to reviews from some education experts, microscopes are rarely used by the students in many schools, or sometimes used incorrectly. Finally, this equipment is often being neglected and is not used at all.

Based on that, we feel necessary to give information on how to properly use the microscope, including introduction to the components and how to maintain the microscope to make it stay in top form.

On September 21, 2013 we have held a special training for Biology teachers and education practitioners on the use and care of Biology equipments, specifically microscope. The training took place at at Pudak Scientific's Science Laboratory Training Room, Gedebage-Bandung and acting as the speaker was Mr. Kusnadi, M.Sc.

The "One Day Closer to Microscope" workshop was participated by teachers who came from several schools outside Bandung, those are:

• SMA Negeri 3 Cirebon
• SMP Palasah Kab. Majalengka
• SMP 1 Cileunyi  Kab. Bandung
• Yayasan Pendidikan Kristen Ketapang Jakarta
• UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta
• SMA N 1 Cirebon
• MAN 1 Garut
• SMA Mutiara Bunda Bandung

With the training and hands-on experience in this workshop, hopefully teachers are able to teach their students to use the microscope properly and maintain the microscope to stay in good condition so it is always ready to be used in learning activity, while keeping micrsocope as the icon of bilogical study.

 

For the upcoming workshop, we will be having Laboratory Management training. This workshop will be held on October 5, 2013, with Dr. Yunita, M.Pd. as the speaker and open for teachers on Junior and Senior High School  and laboratory assistants.
