On August 23, 2014, Pudak Scientific held a physic training under the theme of “Phenomenon of Wave in Everyday Life” for teachers of junior and senior high school. The speaker of this training was Ms. Lilik Hasanah, M.Si., a physics lecturer of UPI Bandung. Participants are teachers from schools in Indramayu, Jakarta, and Karawang.

This Physics training for teachers and laboratory assistants was about optimizing the physics tools available in their physics laboratory. According to the participants, they have had the tools for a long time, whether it was from the government aids or bought. However, those tools have never been used, most of the tools were ruined due to long time storage that finally they are rusty, broken, moldy, and many other kind of damage.

The training was to introduce the physics equipment and its usage, whether it in the form of kit or specific tools under the topic of vibration and waves that propagates through the medium of solid, liquid, or air.

Before doing practices, participants were given materials about physics laboratory administration, procedures of borrowing a tool, as well as tools care and maintenance.

The practices conducted include:

• Mathematical pendulum
• Reflection, refraction, and diffraction of wave using the ripple tank
• Wave on a string (Melde's law)
• Microwave equipment
• Sound resonance using resonance tube of air and water
• Resonance on a loop and a blade
• Resonance using the Chladni's plate
• Pendulum oscillation on a spring

The computer based experiment system was also introduced in this occasion by demonstrating practices of pendulum oscillation on a spring inside water medium, and sound intensity measurement, as well as frequency measurement using sound sensor.

This training event was expected to provide understanding for the teachers and laboratory assistants about the importance of practicum in teaching vibration and wave in the school, particularly in optimizing the kit and tools to give a deeper exploration about the topic to their students.
