Science and Mathematics Teaching Aids Development Training
“The knowledge limitation on using the teaching aids available in school resulted in a mostly lecture learning activities. Moreover, the teacher’s busy teaching schedule was also the reason for not doing experiment activities.” This was stated by one participant of the training held on May 31, 2014. The training of Science and Mathematics Teaching Aids Media Development was attended by elementary school teachers from Bandung and Bekasi.
In this event participants were invited to have various experiments that can be conducted by using common every day things.
The experiments include:
Cartesian diver
Object observation by using periscope
Center of gravity of someone standing close to the wall
Observation of voltage value and the lamp light by using orange
Making a simple bridge by using straws.
Technique to put a boiled egg into an Erlenmeyer flask
Crashing an empty can
Arithmetic wrapping game
Cube volume game
Clock model introduction
2-dimension Dienes Blocks
Number card game
Making lungs model
Candle light observation
Making a secret letter
Making the mosquito spray
Participants were very enthusiastic in following the training activities, particularly during the experiment demonstration by teaching aids medium. One participant said that this training has opened their mind on developing educational aids, whether it is science or mathematics. Therefore, the learning process in school would be more interesting and fun.
