Young Scientist Competition (YSC), the competition event for young researchers has been officially opened today by the West Java Education Board, led by Mr. Abur Mustikawanto, expert staff for the Head of West Java Education Board. YSC is a joint cooperation of Pudak Scientific and Surya University, and takes place at Pudak Scientific factory site, Gedebage - Bandung.

During the opening, Mr.Abur Mustikawanto said this competition is a tool to develop students' critical thinking on science and mathematics through research projects which in return will be very beneficial to the community.

Winners of this competition will be included in the national young researchers competition that will be held on November 15 - 16, 2013 in Yogyakarta. Also present during the opening ceremony were directors from CYS (Center for Young Scientist) – Surya University.

On the first day of the competition, participants are showing their research posters and judged by the jury. Winners of the research posters are elligible to enter the final presentation stage on Thursday October 3, 2013, on which the winner of the competition will be decided.

Participants and their mentors were also given a factory visit tour so they can see Pudak Scientific's production facilities. By this, these young researchers can brainstorm and generate ideas if someday they want to invent new research tools/medias.
